"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left" (Ex 14:21-22).
History often remembers people because of a defining moment that took place in their life. There are good defining moments and bad defining moments. September 11, 2001 was a bad defining moment for the United States of America. Many people's lives were changed as a result. Israel had a defining moment when they crossed the Jordan River and stepped onto the Promised Land. Moses had a defining moment when he parted the Red Sea with his staff. We could go on.
How would you like to be remembered? Is there a defining moment in your life with which others will associate your name? Thomas, one of the disciples of Jesus is remembered as "Doubting Thomas." What a shame. I wonder what other good things Thomas did. However, because Thomas doubted that Jesus had truly come back from the dead and needed Jesus to show the nail marks in his hands and side, he will forever be associated with this question posed to the Savior when He saw Him after he was resurrected.
For most of us we can still define our moments for the future. God may yet have a defining moment when you will discover something new or see the work of God in your life in a unique way. I think God likes defining moments. He wants you to have an experience with Him that is memorable.
Make a commitment to the Lord today to allow your defining moment to be one that has a positive faith experience, not a regret.
Today's Prayer
God, I believe You are using circumstances and events to move me into a place of patient waiting as You put me in the place You desire for me. Help my soul to mature, my faith to grow, my life to be more pure and dedicated to You. James 1:2-4 tells me, "Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." Lord, I praise You in the midst of it all--my special trials and daily challenges--knowing that I must learn to be patient and content as I wait upon You. Thank You for being with me through every trial, every day. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

for I am gentle and humble-hearted;
and you will find rest for our souls."

Do You Worry?
The same God that gives us commandments such as "Do not commit adultery, do not murder" said, "Do not worry," It's a violation of our relationship to God to question his authority by worrying.
Has any good every come out of any worrying that you've every done? Worry only compartmentalizes us and makes us unable to do what we set out to do. If you are worried about a problem, what you need to do is simply TRUST the Lord and do good.
The word "worry" comes from a word that means "to divide." When you worry, you divide your energy. Do you worry? I worry about you if you don't worry, but we shouldn't . Jesus commands us half a dozen times, "Do not worry." When we worry about a situation the problem gets us instead of us getting it.
Jesus is not afraid of the things that cause us fear. He never said, "Don't bring your fears to me; I'm too busy." Instead, he said, "I'm not afraid of the things that cause you fear. Bring your fears to me." ( From The Inspirational Bible "Worry", Thomas Nelson Publishers, Max Lucado General Editor)
APPLICATION It has been noted that most of the things that we worry about don't ever co me to pass. It's proper to let God know about your concerns, for Jesus said he would provide REST for your soul.
EXPLORATION Worry -- Deuteronomy 31:6-8; Joshua 3:5-9; Matthew 6:25-34; Philippians 4:6-9; Revelation 1:17-18.
