Accentuate The Positive

"A Prayer for Victory"
Psalm 108

God, my heart is steady.
I will sing and praise you with all my being.
Wake up, harp and lyre!
I will wake up the dawn.
Lord, I will praise you among the nations;
I will sing songs of praise about you to all the nations.
Your great love reaches to the skies,
your truth to the heavens.
God, you are supreme above the skies.
Let your glory be over all the earth.
6

Answer us and save us by your power
so the people you love will be rescued.
God has said from his Temple,
"When I win, I will divide Shechem
and measure off the Valley of Succoth.
Gilead and Manasseh are mine.
Ephraim is like my helmet.
Judah holds my royal scepter.
Moab is like my washbowl.
I throw my sandals at Edom.
I shout at Philistia."

Who will bring me to the strong, walled city?
God, surely you have rejected us;
you do not go out with our armies.
Help us fight the enemy.
Human help is useless,
but we can win with God's help.
He will defeat our enemies.

SITUATION Psalm 57:7-11 and Psalm 60:5-12 were combined to form Psalm 108. David celebrated his victory. He knew that without God, he would have been defeated.

OBSERVATION With God on our side, we can do more than we think possible. God provides victory. We ought to praise God in both victory and defeat.

INSPIRATION Christians are to rejoice. To do that, you need only to think of the great things God has done for you. Then we are told not to be anxious, but in our prayers to make our request know to God. In your biggest problems you have One that you can go to, and before Him .

You can pour out your heart with the assurance that He will not leave you without an answer to that great problem. Then we are to fill our minds with those things that are good. They are mentioned in the Scriptures as being things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, of good report, and of virtue. It it upon these things that we are to think. Live positively, not negatively. Once you learn that secret. God will have give you victory. (From Day by Day with Billy Graham by Joan W. Brown)

APPLICATION When we were you worried last? When you receive relief, did you praise God? Next time God gives you a victory, give him praise.
