My family of four lives in 1000 square feet, and we love it! I’m really not kidding you, we totally love it! Even our boys love it, and they have to share a room! I bet that’s hard to imagine for many people. It would have been hard for me to imagine not long ago.
We moved from a much larger house, almost three times the size! And the property the other house was on would have held about ten of the lots our house sits on now. The change is really dramatic. But, again, we love it!
I was thinking about why we love it so much. I’ll tell you!

Oh, and I said a loud AMEN when I read your point about cleaning. That’s the number one thing keeping me from wanting a larger house. MORE TO CLEAN!"
In my mail box this week was a form letter from our HOA stating that our neighborhood ARC walk begins on April 16th. Talk about bad timing after all this weekend is The Masters on television and taxes are due in five days! Frankly, most homeowners in our neighborhood haven't even had time to clean up their yards of winter leaves much less plant any flowers. But the part of the letter that got me was the statement that this year the ARC was going to be SERIOUS about weeds in the yard and if any weeds are found in our yards then homeowners would be cited $25.00 a day until removed. I thought to myself...well who doesn't have weeds in their yard? Frankly, a few weeds in my yard are the least of my worries and lucky for me my sweet husband the yard guy is not concerned. So I won't be.

So in light of this and the fact that President Obama this week suggested that it's time that homeowners start re-financing their homes. I hope you enjoy today's post written by a man who has at least has his priorities straight. Happy Easter!

BREAD AND BUTTER COMMENTS
Wow what a great list. My personal favorites:
"Togetherness - Living in close quarters forces close contact. We’re together whether we like it or not. Which builds…. Relationships - The fact that we’re always together is like the full immersion method of learning a foreign language; we’ll build relationships like it or not, good thing we like it! Easy to makeover! - Everything is smaller so when it’s time to remodel, which will happen frequently once we’re totally settled, the jobs are more bite-sized. This is good if you’re both a chronic remodeler and always in a hurry to finish the job!"
"I love the fact that it can be cleaned in no time at all!"
"Thank you for this post… Our family of 5 is in a small house and I have found myself frustrated by the lack of space for my kids… Your post reminded me of the things I need to be thankful for - and that I really could be focusing on the wonderful things that sharing small space with family can bring… instead of complaining."
"Great points, I agree with all of them! My husband and I have a house that’s about 1000 square feet for just the two of us. However, we have a third bedroom that is mostly empty because we are waiting for our adoption to go through. So, we really live in about 850 square feet, which is plenty! Once our adoption is complete we will likely have two little additions to our family to take up the rest of the space. It will be so much easier (space wise!) to adjust to having two little ones since we aren’t used to using that extra room.
