Half-Baked Business

If we tried to serve our family pancakes baked on only one side, we would likely received some violent complaints. Yet we assume that we can offer God our "half-baked" selves and he will either not notice or laugh it off.
*
God has record of forgiving failures, but he is uncompromising in his demand that we never stop trying to do better. God's standard is perfection--nothing less. "Be ye perfect even as your heavenly Father is perfect." This would be a discouraging goal were it not for the fact that God also has a record for being infinitely patient with the weakest, most miserable sinner who is striving to do better. His sympathy is not wasted, however, upon the "ethical" person who consider that she or he is good enough and is making no effort to improve.

Does anyone have any "unfinished business"?

I do! Today I will pinpoint my latest failure and see what it has to teach me about avoiding it next time.

Prayer: O Lord, thou knowest all, and I know some of the areas in which I fail. Thou hast been patient and forgiving, but never unconcerned. I will try again. Lord please hold my hand! Amen.
