What Worries You The Most?

What Worries You The Most?

With 11 days to go until the election my answer would be: Hell, Hypocrisy, Dishonesty and Idolatry which plagues this nation and the world.

"Hell is the truth seen too late--duty neglected in its season." -Tyron Edwards

"Hypocrisy is the homage which vice pays to virtue." -Francois, Deu de La Rochefoucauld

"Anyone who is dishonest in little things is dishonest in big things." Luke 16:10

"Idolatry is not only the adoration of images and people...but also trust in one's own righteousness, works, and merits, and putting confidences in riches and power." - Martin Luther

You see "one of the greatest DELUSIONS in the world is the false hope that the evils of this world are cured by legislation."

America has become a nation where truth has been thrown down in the street, dishonesty rules and justice it seems is no longer blind. We've become the United States of Special Interest Groups including our own and that of our elected officials.

The Constitution of the United States begins with the words "We the People" but most Americans translate that to say "what's in it for me" instead. Happily the media and the press knows this and that's why everyone is working so hard to turned Campaign 2008 into a popularity contest for "prom" king. This is why it's very possible that Senator Barrack Obama is about to dance his way into the White House just like he entertained the studio audience of the Ellen television show last week.

Will popularity win over experience? I haven't a clue because the polls have been wrong the last two Presidential elections. Deep down in my heart I honestly believe that Senator John McCain wins this election. Yet no matter who wins or who loses this election our country will change and the road ahead will not be a walk in the park.

Granted I don't have to have my own way despite what my husband may try and tell you. Which is why I will continue to rely on the Lord who is my strength during times of trouble and disappointment. Because worldly grief produces death and Godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regrets.

St. Clare of Assisi writes "Our labor here is brief, but the reward is eternal. Do not be disturbed by the clamor of the world, which passes like a shadow. Do not let the false delights of a deceptive world deceive you." This is a harsh reality to accept and certainly not a truth that I embrace about this world in which we live.

Let us take comfort in the words of the Lord. Joshua chapter one, verse 9 says: "Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage: be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."

So tell me please what worries you the most?
